Global Energy Management (GEM), is responsible for the management of the ENGIE Group's assets in Europe. The role of GEM is to ensure competitive energy for customers while optimizing created value, within a consistent risk framework.

The GEM teams negotiate ENGIE natural gas supply contracts, manages the assets, energy purchase and sales' contracts (long-term gas contracts, virtual power plants, transport, storage, and re-gasification capacities, etc.), and provide the group customers with natural gas, electricity, as well as energy price risk management services.

The teams manage one of the largest and most diversified energy portfolios in Europe, including electricity, natural gas, coal, oil products, biomass, CO2 and environmental products.

GEM serves all ENGIE metiers, customers and external counterparts. GEM also provides dynamic management of the Group's portfolio, particularly through its trading activities and presence in Europe's key energy marketplaces.

The origination department is in charge of the commercial activities related to external clients. Today GEM covers a large variety of commodities, and is intending to grow its business on weather derivatives.

To help on the development of this new activity, GEM is hiring an intern for a 6 months period .

The trainee will be immersed in Trading Floor environment.

Your mission:

Fully integrated in the Weather Desk, you will support the team members in their daily activity.

Direct contribution to weather deal management daily activity by:

• Monitoring weather and commodities exposures and booking in trading portfolios

• Supporting the Scheduling team in the nomination process

• Assisting the Trading team in implementing short term commodities exposures hedgings on energy markets

• Upon need, participation in structuring activity in assessing, structuring and quoting weather related structures

Support to development of weather business by:

·  Carrying out statistical studies to extend weather underlyings scope and enlarge risk framework (climate sensitivity, correlation analysis…)
·  Developing statistical IT tools

·  you are in your second or last year in an engineering school with a major in statistics or a master 2 with a major in statistics
·  you speak fluently French and English
·  you have excellent command in Excel/VBA. Expertise in R would be a plus
·  you are rigorous, have sound analysis, modeling and information structuring skills
·  knowledge of energy commodities markets would be appreciated
