Trading Internship - Downstream Desk

Global Energy Management (GEM) is one of ENGIE's 24 Business Units. At the heart of the energy value chain, GEM optimizes the Group's assets portfolio including electricity, natural gas, environmental products and bulk commodities such as biomass, while developing its external commercial franchise worldwide. We provide services in supply and logistics management, asset management by leveraging on markets, risk management, market access management, and contribute to market understanding, design and efficiency.

With a staff of 1.400, offices in 11 countries and 4 trading platforms, GEM has an extended geographical coverage in Europe and Asia-Pacific and activities in more than 50 countries.

Downsteam Desk is in charge of :
·  downstream physical flows (Internal sales, etc.. ) & perform financial risk hedging
·  managing financially and physically assets necessary for physical sourcing of downstream flows
·  ensure netting of internal flows
·  manage illiquid positions
Your mission :

Intern will help as a junior trader on Downstream desk :
·  price & book downstream flows (hedging of GEM Gas portfolio)
·  hedge the flow by splitting (1) the part sent to other trading desks from (2) the part directly managed by Downsteam desk
·  contribute to develop desk strategies to manage illiquid and big positions: cost-risk analysis, studies based on econometrics and mathematical finance, medium term market evolutions views, etc
·  participate in the improvement of desk processes (IT development, etc.)
·  ensure internal trading rules are applied (limits, compliance, etc.)
·  contribute to promote team spirit and constructive relationship with other teams: other trading desks, trading support functions and other GEM teams


·  you are doing a Master/PhD in Mathematics, Finance or following an Engineer cycle
·  you have a good level in English and French
·  you have a good knowledge on VBA & Excel
·  a first experience on a trading floor would be a plus
·  you are analytical
·  you are synthetic
·  you are rigorous
