As a Robotics Applications Intern, you will work with the R&D Robotics OLP Development Team.  The Team is responsible for developing applications used for simulation and offline programming of industrial robots. They are responsible for the product design and accurate simulation of robot programs including the generation of production robot programs.  





This is a paid internship available for 12 weeks in May - August 2018.  You will be working in the Dassault Systèmes office located on 900 North Squirrel Road, Suite 100, Auburn Hills, MI  48326.

What will your role be?  





With the assistance of a mentor, you will create 3D robot models to be used in simulation.  This internship will provide you with hands-on experience working with CATIA, mechanical design, and industrial robotics. Depending on the workload, you may also gain experience writing software in C++, VB.NET and writing inverse kinematic solvers.







Your Challenges ahead  





From a customer request, you will need to gather the necessary CAD data and robot specifications to create a simulation model.  Using other simulation robots as a guide, you will need to understand the kinematics of the robot model and create the trigonometric equations necessary to define its range of motion. 



 







Your key success factors





Actively enrolled in a Bachelor’s, Master’s Degree, or in a PhD program within an Engineering discipline or in Computer Science





Minimum cumulative GPA 3.0 





Able work onsite in the Auburn Hill’s office and available to work full-time (40 hours / week) for the duration of the internship





Knowledge of Kinematics and a strong aptitude in physics and trigonometry





Experience with 3D CAD, robotics simulation software or industrial robots.





Experience with computer programming.







Highly organization with critical attention to details
