What Will Your Role Be?


Payroll Processing

·  Manage a team of 5 staff, providing leadership over payroll processing for the United States (through ADP) and Canada (through Nethris) while ensuring accurate and timely payment of salaries, wages, incentives, other payments, and related payroll taxes  
·  Manage the relationship with, performance of, and fees associated with the external payroll processing vendor
·  Ensure existing policies and procedures are effectively administered and new policies and procedures are adequately documented and communicated across all supported organizations
·  Work closely with Finance and HR, serving as liaison with all functions and operating units in the resolution of payroll problems
·  Maintain and lead training for employees associated with payroll processes, including time sheet submission and vacation time tracking (through ETime for US and Replicon for Canada) 

Financial Closing

·  Provide necessary analysis and key data elements, including payroll related journal entries and supporting documentation, to facilitate the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing cycles
·  Reconcile key payroll related accounts and ensure follow up and resolution of unexpected variances or open items
·  Provide explanations for significant unusual transactions through payroll
·  Respond to ad hoc payroll-related financial requests

Corporate Simplification and Integration

·  Lead payroll components of Corporate Simplification and Integration projects, including set up of new payroll companies, transferring tax and unemployment data, and registering new states, as needed
·  Complete filings to reflect merger, liquidation, and “no longer doing business” status, as needed, to close prior company payroll records with all impacted states

Other

·  Ensure internal controls are efficient and operating in accordance with Group policies  
·  Monitor established internal control execution to ensure integrity of the Payroll Administration processes and provide inputs toward improving control design and execution
·  Interface with internal and external auditors  
·  Support for external audits will include participation in financial statement audits, 401k audits, IRS audits, workers’ compensation insurance audits and other ad hoc audit activities, as needed
·  Responsible for professional development of staff, setting and monitoring annual goals and objectives for self and direct reports, and conducting performance management and coaching discussions, as needed
·  Participate in and lead various projects, as necessary Your Key Success Factors 

·  8+ years processing all aspects of Payroll, including 3+ years of experience managing a team 
·  Bachelor's Degree preferred 
·  Solid Excel skills and familiarity with basic accounting principles
·  Prior experience with financial closing activities (including payroll related journal entries and reconciliations) 
·  Effective communication and outstanding interpersonal skills 
·  Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail
·  Ability to manage time effectively to meet needs of multiple business units and complete assignments on time with a high degree of accuracy and completeness 
·  Ability to identify root causes of problems and generate and implement alternative solutions quickly and effectively 
·  Flexibility to adapt to a fast paced environment with multiple priorities and constantly changing workload 
·  Highest moral and ethical standards, strong character and unquestioned integrity
