Job description

Job Description

We are looking for a System Test Engineer willing to work for the most powerful computer in the car, Engine Control Unit, to join our team of Safety specialists in P ES.
The future of automotive propulsion is passing through a revolution with three different sources: autonomous driving, vehicle electrification and introduction of the Safety standard ISO 26262. As result, the Functional Safety becomes more and more important.
You will be part of a team who makes the things differently, with the highest quality, and with an important mission: to assure the safe working of the engine. The goal of our software is to prevent erroneous behavior like vehicle acceleration without the intention of the driver or unintended engine start.
You will test the complete system on a Hardware In the Loop (HIL), Close Loop system, with the engine simulated in Simulink, for one of the most technological advanced OEM – Audi.

Responsibilities:

The development of test automation solutions for safety relevant systems requests the coordination of system test activities for complex engine systems with a large number of safety relevant functions, connections and interfaces. Growing complexity, requirements in terms of functional and technical safety as well as the need for efficient testing requires specialized knowledge.
The Safety HIL System Test Engineer provides the Engine System projects with the evaluation and selection of test solutions by defining adequate test architectures and test processes.
This includes the coordination and if necessary adaptation of test procedures between all relevant projects. The concept and development of automated test cases and test scripts for safety HIL reaction test has to be defined in close cooperation with the Safety Function Developer and the Safety Application (Calibration) Engineer from Continental and from OEM side. This will give you the chance to cooperate within our international development teams and to interface with our external customers.
Based on the HIL safety reaction tests, the Safety HIL System Test Engineer insures the conformance of the system with the defined safety goals, gives a recommendation for the safety release and if required initiates corrective measures.
