Poste et missions:
Support the manufacturing operation through direct participation and commitment to World Class Manufacturing in the areas of safety, quality, new product implementation, service and cost. Responsible for initiating, developing, implementing, maintaining and improving production processes as well as automation in the plant. Defines process parameters and offers engineering support that will allow manufacturing to meet established product specifications, quality standards, productivity objectives, lead times and safety standards.
This position reports directly to the Plant Manager. There are no subordinate positions reporting to the incumbent. The Process & Automation Engineer will have daily contact with the other departments at the site, such as Quality, Production, Finance, Business Management, and R&D. Outside the company, the incumbent will deal with vendors, contractors, counterparts at other facilities, and corporate management.
The incumbent will work on improving the overall plant efficiency through:
The application of World Class Manufacturing principles using Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing tools
Focus on production and business system automation along with facility layout to enhance utilization of available process areas.
Provide hands-on assistance to manufacturing personnel on the production floor in order to identify opportunities for process improvements and implement solutions.
Leading, directing, developing, and training personnel on new processes, equipment, and procedures as required along with establishing process documentation.
The candidate will have to plan, devise, design, and participate in the completion of capital and non-capital projects in all technical areas of the plant. They are also responsible for compliance with applicable corporate and governmental guidelines, rules, and regulations pertaining to health, safety, and environmental issues.
The candidate will be expected to handle multiple tasks and in-depth problem solving as it relates to plant manufacturing issues or new product implementation. Out of the box thinking is needed to seek unconventional solutions to problems. Strong initiative is expected to actively seek ways to reduce non-value added daily tasks to increase job function efficiencies.
Principal End Results:
Participate in the plants World Class Manufacturing efforts towards Bronze Certification.
Develop, configure and optimize industrial processes from inception through to start up and certification
Assess processes, collect and interpret data
Design, run, test and upgrade systems and processes
Develop best practices, routines & innovative solutions to improve production rates and output quality to include the use of PLC technology where applicable.
Manage cost and time constraints
Perform risk assessments
Provide process documentation and operating instructions
Write project reports and make oral presentations of work progress to articulate and convey project developments to all appropriate supervisory, management, and manufacturing personnel
Direct all ISO activities to ensure compliance with all aspects of the 9001 and 14001 Standards.
Timely project completion with accurate results.
Profil:
Bachelor’s Degree Industrial Engineer with a focus in Automation is highly preferred. Bachelor’s in Chemical, Materials, and Mechanical Engineer will be considered.
Self-motivated with the ability to gather and coordinate resources to complete projects
Training and demonstrated understanding of statistical methods especially relating to SPC and Six Sigma principles
Experience with process optimization and new process implementation in a production environment
Thorough knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, systems and equipment.
Must be detail oriented with strong organizational, analytical and follow through skills.
Ability to multi-task and work in a challenging fast paced environment.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors and members of diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds regardless of race, religion, age, sex, disability or political affiliation. Team oriented.
