Scrum Master

Position Description
To embed and evolve scrum practices within a disciplined, agile delivery framework. The role will motivate, challenge and keep development teams focused while facilitating the collaborative delivery of working software. This role involves working across multiple development teams to lead the continuous transformation of customers’ delivery models and establish consistent agile practices.

Your future duties and responsibilities
• Organize and facilitate Project planning, daily stand-up meetings, reviews, retrospectives, sprint and release planning, and other Scrum-related meetings
• Verify that the Scrum team follows RBC’s Agile Management Framework (AMF)
• Verify the development teams are practicing the core agile principles of collaboration, prioritization, team accountability, and visibility
• Assisting the product owner with backlog grooming
• Verify all Scrum working sessions are adhered to throughout Project lifecycle
• Update agile tracking systems to provide transparency on Product & Sprint Backlogs.
• Recommend improvements and assist in changes to recommended practices.
• Assist with internal and external communication, improving transparency, and radiating information
• Assist team with making appropriate commitments through story selection, task definition
• Adapting Project plans, schedules, and resource assignments as required to respond to emerging requirements and risks.
• Assist RBC with tracking Project progress, identifying risks and providing resolutions for Project issues
• Develop and maintain a solid partnership with key project and business stakeholders and work collaboratively towards a common goal
• Ensuring disciplined software development approach: continuous integration, refactoring practices, peer reviews, continuous QA, and sustainable pace as standard
• When necessary, taking responsibility for managing dependencies between delivery teams and third parties or between internal teams
• Assisting the product owner with keeping the backlog groomed
• Ensure that the Scrum team is empowered, yet has solid processes and excellent discipline by following RBC’s Agile Management Framework (AMF)
• Ensure the development teams are practicing the core agile principles of collaboration, prioritization, team accountability, and visibility
• Continuously challenge the ways of working within the team
• Ensure all Scrum working sessions are adhered to throughout project lifecycle

• Ensure the development teams are practicing the core agile principles of collaboration, prioritization, team accountability, and visibility
• Update agile tracking systems to provide transparency on Product & Sprint Backlogs.
• Recommend improvements and assist in changes to best practice
• Assist with internal and external communication, improving transparency, and radiating information
• Assist team with making appropriate commitments through story selection, task definition
• Identify and remove impediments, prevent distractions that interfere with the ability of the team to deliver the sprint goal
• Facilitate discussion and conflict resolution
• Empower the teams to self-organize
• Improve the productivity of the teams in any way possible
• Ensure the team strives to make each increment of functionality potentially shippable
• Participate in the organization and planning of the development schedule based on methodology that has been developed to create a cohesive plan with identifiable critical path, task dependencies, and major milestones, and manages the agreed project plans and schedules, ensuring successful completion within scope, budget, time, and quality parameters
• Adapting project plans, schedules, and resource assignments as required throughout pilot projects to respond to emerging requirements and risks.
• Ensuring cross-team coordination
• Collaborate with project teams (both on and offshore), create and maintain project plans and schedules
• Fully track project progress, identify risks and provide resolutions for project issues

Required qualifications to be successful in this role
• Bachelor's degree or combination of relevant education and experience
• Must be a RBC certified Agile Practitioner or an industry Certified Scrum Master with 5-7 years project management and hands-on Scrum Master experience
• Thorough understanding of agile software development lifecycle methodologies, values, and procedures
• Multiple years’ experience working with an agile methodology during a large scale, complex new development project for a large enterprise
