Position Description
Put your years of experience into a future of excellence at CGI Federal. We are seeking a Java Developer to support operations in our Ft. Eustis, VA location.

Your future duties and responsibilities
The Java Developer / Web Designer will support the Exercise Support Directorate (ESD) within the U.S. Army TRADOC G27. The Developer will assist the ESD in their operational mission of supporting unit training exercises.
This will require the Developer to be responsible for both the client and backend side of the service TRADOC G27 provides. Your primary focus will be to implement a complete user interface in the form of a mobile and desktop web app, with a focus on performance. Primary responsibilities involve backend java development in a Linux environment. Core technologies include Java, Spring, Backbone, Gradle, PostgreSQL, Javascript, and Solr. The artistic design will be delivered to you, together with a few HTML templates, but we will ask for your help in regard to animations, CSS, and final HTML output. You will work in a team with the back-end developer, and communicate with the API using standard methods. A thorough understanding of all of the components of our platform and infrastructure is required. The secondary focus of the position will be to assist the Senior Web Designer in a surge capacity to create custom websites and graphic web-based elements. The includes the ability to develop, modify, and manage website front-end languages such as HTML(5), CSS(3), and JavaScript.

The Developer will work in cooperation with other facets of the TRADOC G27 to assess the current architecture, evolve future enterprise computing requirements, evaluate effective solutions and make operational recommendations to ESD management. Individual must work well independently as well as have strong team oriented skills. This position will report directly to the ESD Director and ESD’s Operational Systems Engineer.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems or related discipline, or equivalent education and experience. 5 + years of experience in software development.
In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for more than 7 years applicable work experience. Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience.

Required Skills

• 4+ years Linux experience (Redhat/Fedora preferred)
• 4+ years Java experience
• Working knowledge of any SQL database
• 1+ year experience with Git

Active Secret security clearance is required.
Due to the nature of the government contract requirements and/or clearance requirements, US citizenship is required.
Travel expected to be less than 15%.
