GIS Analyst/Data Scientist

Position Description
The ideal candidate for this position is both a data scientist and a geospatial expert. This position offers the opportunity to work with a large team on complex problems with direct ties to a large government agency mission. Candidates in this role will have the opportunity to lead and direct data analysis work and to evolve the geospatial presence of the program.

Your future duties and responsibilities
Identify and develop GIS-based data solutions to present geospatial data to users through visualization techniques and tools
Analyze large, complex geospatial data sets and make recommendations for presentation of data concepts
Work with big data and data analytics tools to develop data-based solutions and views

Required qualifications to be successful in this role
• 3 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s Degree in technical discipline
• Understanding of and experience with ArcPy
• Experience working with Python
• Understanding of open source using a combination of raster read/write library such as RasterIO, GDAL, or similar, and computation libraries such as NumPy, SciPy, GeoPandas, etc.
• Understanding of open source big data tools such as GeoTrellis, GeoMesa, GeoWave
• Understanding of and experience with data analytics tools such as Tableau.
• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Clearance required
• Not accepting visa sponsorship for this opportunity
