SUMMARY: Relieves officials of clerical work and minor administrative and business detail by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Routes incoming mail. Locates and attaches appropriate file to correspondence to be answered by employer.

Composes and types routine correspondence, reports, invoices for operations and laboratory. Faxes correspondence as needed.

Files correspondence and other records.

Answers telephone and gives information to caller or routes calls to appropriate official and places outgoing calls.

Greets visitors, ascertains nature of business, and conducts visitors to employer or appropriate person.

Makes copies of correspondence or other printer matter.

Prepares outgoing mail.

Q UALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employee of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Ability to operate 10-key and learn computer software programs. Must have a strong knowledge of Microsoft Office.
