Where the Chemistry Happens…

Material Control Technician (2001274) – San Diego, CA

 

Under the direct supervision of the Warehouse Supervisor, this position is responsible for material movements, managing the onsite warehouse, and compliance with BASF policies and procedures related to shipping and receiving.  The successful candidate will be detail oriented and highly organized to understand and follow defined processes and procedures and at times will serve as a BASF primary point of contact for internal and external customers and partners.  Our dedicated Supply Chain Team communicates with confidence and reacts quickly to resolve customers' issues.  Whether it's answering a service question, directing customers to the BASF product expert, or following up on a shipment, we consider our Customer Care / Logistics Team to be our problem solving and solution "champions", delivering winning results to internal and external customers.

 
Formula for Success 
·  Display a strong work ethic as a motivated self-starter who aspires to increase development and welcomes new learning opportunities in order to become a valuable member of the supply chain team.
·  Relying on your effective organizational and communication skills, you will optimize and continually improve the stock system (descriptions, Min/Max stock volumes) and recommend discontinuation of excess, defective, or obsolete stock.
·  Leveraging your education and experience in shipping & receiving and/or clerical positions, you will write purchase requisitions for storeroom material and supplies when inventory quantities are reduced below requirements and maintain necessary catalog and parts lists as references when ordering materials.
·  Demonstrating your strong interpersonal skills, you will be responsible for following-up with suppliers to ensure deliveries are prompt and stored accordingly.
·  Using your laboratory supplies experience combined with your knowledge of goods/services receipts, you will distribute various lab supplies, process goods receipts and service entries in a timely manner as well as field all questions pertaining to supply needs.
·  Working with minimal supervision and a keen attention to detail, you will ensure inventory is accurate and in its proper location. You will also use these skills to examine and inspect stock items for wear or defects, reporting any damage to the warehouse supervisor.
·  Utilizing your familiarity with information systems (such as Microsoft Office) you will be able to rapidly learn SAP processes to aid you in fulfilling customer requests accurately and in a timely manner

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look For in You…

Basic Qualifications:  

·  High School Diploma or GED.
·  Must have 3 years of experience working in a warehouse or in a logistics position.
·  Proficient in use of computers: (MS Word, Excel, Outlook). 
Preferred Qualifications:   
·  Experience with warehouse equipment such as a forklift is preferred.
·  Knowledge of SAP is preferred.
·  Having strong organizational skills is preferred.
