Maintenance Technician – 1903257– Sparta, TN

Formula for Success: You Will…

Perform duties to install, maintain and repair equipment at the BASF Sparta Engineering Plastics Plant. Tasks include complex process equipment installation, maintenance troubleshooting and repairs utilizing advanced skills in PLC, pipefitting, structural steel, pneumatic, hydraulic, rigging, welding and other millwright work on rotating and fixed equipment such as process machinery, tanks/pumps/agitators, and general building & grounds maintenance. Basic I&E understanding is required.
Responsibility and accountability includes, but is not limited to:

• Responsible for maintaining, rebuilding, and repairing a wide variety of production, processing machines and equipment
• Strong mechanical skill sets, including welding, fabrication, and pipefitting skills
• Uses hand tools, power tools, and testing instruments for repairs and maintenance of machinery and equipment
• Uses measurement devices, calipers, and micrometers to inspect machine parts
• Advanced skills preferred in electrical equipment such as controllers, PLC’s, and electric meter usage
• Support non-production maintenance and repair
• Supports site by covering for unplanned and planned shift maintenance absence
• Actively supports safety teams
• Supports site by helping cover unplanned shift maintenance tech’s absences
• Proactively finds ways to improve plant uptime while performing PM’s
• Makes recommendations to improve existing PM’s to improve effectiveness and updates PM’s, modifications including equipment changes
• Contacts suppliers for troubleshooting/repair assistance
• Updates KPI metrics, including tracking RCFA trends for specific equipment
• Files all completed PM’s for ISO and is an ISO/TS16949 maintenance representative
• Required to contribute to and complete construction (capital type) projects as assigned
• Utilize RCFA / RCM process to improve equipment uptime
• Responsible for preventative and predictive maintenance activities, including completion of RCFA’s / RCM’s (12/year)
• Minimize downtime of plant equipment through the effective use of I&E Electrical/Electronic maintenance skills
• Responsible for following EHS policies and practices at all times
• Responsible for system and component troubleshooting and repair of production and site equipment
• Responsible for rebuilding and/or maintaining a wide variety of production and site equipment
• Responsible for providing training to new and existing production employees as required
• Responsible for keeping current on technological changes with equipment and BASF corporate electrical policies / procedures
• Required to contribute to and complete construction (capital type) projects as assigned

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…

Basic Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED.
• 2 years’ experience in maintenance repair in an industrial environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Working knowledge of pumps, gear reductions, and motors
• Demonstrates ability to weld, read prints, CAD drawings, and Schematic Diagrams
• Basic computer skills are required
• SAP experience
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
• Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables
• Ability to work effectively under stress or time pressures
• Licensed electrician
• AA Degree in Industrial Maintenance or Electronics
