CI/ERP/LDC/OpEx Engineer ( 2000778 ) – Chattanooga, TN  

Where the Chemistry Happens

This multifunctional role provides the unique opportunity for an individual to utilize a variety of skills and experience to support the Site’s ERP (Exposure Reduction Process), CI (Continuous Improvement/OpEx), Training LDC (Learning Development), and OpEx Coordinator, for the two EDN manufacturing sites in Chattanooga TN.

ERP Exposure Reduction Process, as facilitator:  Plan, schedule, coordinate Chattanooga Site ERP activities.  Document team goals and monitor team progress.  Align team goals to individual performance management (Spotlight Behaviors).  Ensure assignment of accountability and responsibility, personal accountability.  Help drive a common corporate safety culture; be visible.  Coordinate task leaders across the business. Assign and train new task leaders when necessary.  Generate interest and enthusiasm for process activities.  Lead process steering team meetings.   Coordinate regular meetings with Senior Leadership Team (CSLT) sponsors.  Measure impact and results of process.  Identify and develop leaders within the process.  Ensure ERP information is being effectively communicated

CI Continuous Improvement (OpEx) – as specialist:  Facilitate Continuous Improvement YB/GB projects at the Chattanooga Site.  Identify & select continuous improvement projects, set targets and track results.  Manage and execute Lean Six Sigma training programs.  Lead continuous improvement workshops and kaizen events.  Provide process improvement and variation reduction expertise as required.   Drive successful LSS project sustainability and implementation of the four-year OpEx plan/roadmap

LDC Learning Development, as coordinator:  Develop, maintain, and continuously improve content and related documentation (training modules, visual aids, etc.) used in training Process Technicians and other employees at the Chattanooga Site.  Create training timelines, track status, and certify competency of trainees in assigned areas.  Collaborate with internal customers (Operations/Lab/Maintenance) to prioritize employee training.  Provide training to trainees in a one-on-one or group face-to-face setting.  Complete job audits to confirm training effectiveness.  Look for opportunities to standardize Best Practices via the training process.  Review Site Learning Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to determine employee training needs.  Provide oversight to new employees – improving on-boarding and new employee preparedness for success in their job skills/requirements.

Plant Optimization: Provide process engineering support towards efforts to improve plant productivity and product quality.  Support plant Quality and Continuous Improvement strategies to plant processes. 

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Formula for Success

·  Utilizing your Engineering (or Chemical Engineering) degree and/or experience in a chemical manufacturing environment.  Preferred YB/GB Certification or BB Certification or working towards completion of either.
·  Strong computer skills, specifically Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint. SAP strongly preferred.  Experience in facilitating training and learning and using learning concepts
·  Ability to work under limited supervision, primarily guided by specific assignment objectives.  Posses strong analytical and mechanical aptitude skills, and excellent individual and team skills. 
·  Strong awareness of and focus on behavior-based safety (ERP).  Interest in improving safety of co-workers, Personal Obligation (Walking the Talk).
·  Experience working with EHS, plant management/corporate leadership. Interpersonal communication skills working and collaborating successfully with other functions (Process Technicians, Engineering/ Maintenance/ Technicians/ Contractors)
·  Strong commitment to lifelong learning and continuous improvement.
