Overall purpose of role
· Work as part of an application development and 3rd line support team, contributing to team projects and developing applications and services.
· Understand and contribute to a service oriented architecture, focusing at all times on innovation, reusability and driving down the costs and time taken to deliver, maintain and support applications. Be able to manage your own time and workload, and make informed decisions based on available facts.
· Be able to contribute to, and work from technical design documents, plan and estimate work allocation and work in an agile development environment.
Key Accountabilities
· Work to and contribute to solution design documents, translating business requirements into technical designs that can be used to effectively build applications.
· Develop, work to, refine and implement world class standards across the team.
· Consume and produce data from a variety of sources, outputting where necessary to downstream applications, or updating the source.
· Design, develop and deliver innovative and tactical solutions to benefit the finance community.
· Identify and resolve problems, working closely with the business and support teams.
· Understand and implement agile methodologies.
· Be able to contribute to status updates, and own risk or issues to give early visibility of problems.
Stakeholder Management and Leadership
· Interact with project managers and team leads to understand and update on deliverables
· Interact with service management community to evidence adherence to project controls, such as test completion reports
· Work closely with 2nd line teams, contributing towards incident and problem resolution, as well as continuous service improvement initiatives.
Decision-making and Problem Solving
Ability to troubleshoot and find solutions to technical problems – you should be able to clearly communicate these to 2nd and 1st line support areas to help build up an effective knowledge base and increase 1st line resolution statistics.

Person Specification

Your Skills and Qualifications should include:
· Strong knowledge of C# object-oriented programming language and techniques.
· Understanding of developing applications using industry tools and practices:
· Working from, and contributing to, user stories;
· Creating unit tests, TDD and BDD;
· Working to agile methodologies; preparing tasks against user stories and being able to deliver in sprints;
· Extreme programming.
· Some working knowledge and experience of SQL databases, specifically:
· Writing efficient SQL queries to access data from application layer;
· Clear understanding of indexing and normal forms.
It is not required but would be very beneficial to have some of these skills, experience or knowledge:
· Programming:
· Asp.net/MVC;
· JavaScript, JQuery;
· LINQ, Entity Framework;
· WCF;
· PowerShell;
· Microsoft Fakes;
· Selenium.
· Tools, systems or services:
· MSTest, MSBuild;
· TeamCity or Jenkins;
· Git;
· Unix/Linux;
· Windows Server 2012/2016;
· AWS and other cloud technologies (Azure, etc.);
· CA Release Automation (Nolio), Nexus, Sonar;
· Chef.
· Understanding ways of working:
· Agile;
· Lean;
· DevOps;
· ITIL;
· ISO 27001, SOX.
· Knowledge of patterns, including, but not limited to:
· Gang of Four;
· Dependency Injection;
· CQRS;
· Event Sourcing.
