Java Developer
Northampton

The principal objective of the Java Developer is to be responsible for delivery of configuration development and change requests and the day to day Level 3 application support. Developing and maintaining strong relationships across change project managers, key stakeholders and development teams. Experience in APIs (Application programming interface) is essential for this position.

What will you be doing?

• Working with the API Designer and the Solution Architects in for gathering business requirements and architecting HR Business process solutions with effective API solutions.
• Managing and hands-on configuration of API based Data integration with internal and external systems that either produce or consume HR data.
• Extensive knowledge of Data Integration via Web service APIs.
• Assist with system testing; facilitate user acceptance testing and application demonstrations.
• Highlight and managing risks and issues via effective controls and standard Barclays processes
• Enhance and improve the application development capability of own team and via automation and innovation

What we're looking for:

• Strong proficiency with designing and coding RESTful APIs, SOAP Java, RAML and extensive experience in API security, performance, orchestration usage/consumption tracking and alerting
• Proficiency at developing Web Service to support both pull APIs, Publish/Subscribe APIs and flat file (.csv) generation.
• Exposure to Design and Design Principles and knowledge of J2EE frameworks and Design Patterns.
• Strong experience of developing applications using Java 7/8 / JEE

Skills that will help you in the role:

• Strong understanding of OO Designing and Programming Techniques and associated concepts, Data Modeling, Design Patterns and Microsoft DB SQL(mandatory)
• Exposure to DevOps - Jenkins, Cucumber (Optional), Gradle, Maven, GitHub, Bitbucket.
• Ability to understand the business context and translate business requirements to technical solutions.
• Experience with testing and validation of configuration and defect-resolution and perform peer-reviews.
