Systems Engineer

Would you like to play a key role in the delivery of Tactical Communications projects? We currently have a vacancy for a Systems Engineer at our site in Abbey Wood or Christchurch.

As a Systems Engineer, you will be working in the Defence Information (DI) business area. DI is responsible for the design, development and delivery of products across the joint environment of Defence. This role will focus on the Land Environment (LE) and in particular the design, development and delivery of Tactical Communications and Information Systems (TacCIS). You will work alongside the architecture and requirements teams to ensure that the testing regime is suitable and assure all outputs for openness and compliance with the overarching system requirements. Initially this role will be client-site based, providing support and assurance to a number of projects.

This role will provide the chance to work with complex defence technology, as well as excellent career progression opportunities in the future. You will be part of a team that delivers the UK‘s future LE TacCIS capability which provides operational agility and flexibility in order to deliver the tactical element of the Single Information Environment (SIE).

Your main responsibilities as a Systems Engineer will involve:

Providing support to the Technical Authority on the design and integration assurance of the project's system design

Conducting formal technical reviews of supplier deliverables in accordance with the published process

Providing technical support to the Strategy and Approvals team

Providing technical support to the Project Management Team in development of the materials to enable all procurements relating to the project

Engaging with current or potential suppliers of programme services or goods to assess architectures and designs for components of the overall system; and undertaking an assessment and testing regime

Your skills and qualifications as a Systems Engineer:

Systems engineering experience in one or more of the following areas:
· System design
· System testing
· System verification and validation
· Systems integration
· Experience in the technical assessment and review of systems

You must possess excellent communication skills, alongside the ability to work with a range of stakeholders across various sites. You must also be well-organised with a good attention to detail.

Location: Abbey Wood, Bristol or Christchurch, Dorset
