Systems Engineer

Would you like to work with the development of Naval combat systems? We currently have a vacancy for a Systems Engineer at our site in either Frimley or Ash Vale.

As a Systems Engineer, you will report into the Engineering Lead for the Combat Systems Test Equipment team and will be responsible for undertaking systems engineering activities conducted within the team. This will primarily involve undertaking initial design activities and specifying requirements for the development and delivery of test equipment to Combat Systems. It will also include providing ongoing engineering support to equipment already delivered to our customers.

This is a varied role within a fast-moving area of the business that will provide you with the opportunity to work with a wide-spanning scope of technology. You will be fully supported in your professional development, with excellent career progression opportunities in the future, such as working towards chartership.

Your main responsibilities as a Systems Engineer will involve:

Attending stakeholder workshops to elicit requirements

Undertaking system modelling to define the solution

Engaging with suppliers to advance solution development

Authoring work products for internal review/approval such as design descriptions and statements of work

Engaging with subject matter experts to ensure safety and security requirements are addressed

Delivering against agreed work packages and be entrusted to communicate progress or issues

Your skills and qualifications as a Systems Engineer:

Essential:

Requirements management experience gained from a complex engineering environment, such as defence or aerospace

Desirable:

Experience of modelling in UML/SysML or similar language

Systems integration/ test experience

You will have a proactive attitude to your work, alongside excellent stakeholder management skills. You must also be comfortable with challenging others, to achieve the successful elicitation of requirements.

Complex Systems and Support:

Complex Systems and Support (CS&S) is part of BAE Systems Submarines. We predominantly supply to the UK MoD but with smaller derivative work done in support of international Customers. Our team is responsible for system design, build and/or procurement of the major electronic and mechanical systems on a submarine, as well as provision of test, integration and support services.
