We currently have an excellent career opportunity for a Small Business Commercial Lines Underwriter, in our Markham Commercial Lines branch. We are dedicated and aligned to our broker partners, and we are seeking talent with shown underwriting knowledge, and a vested interest in building long-lasting partnerships with our brokers. The customer experience is what drives our industry, and profitable growth sustains our business.

You will be involved in the underwriting of small commercial property and casualty accounts as well as IRCA new business and renewals. In addition, you will be responsible for providing support across the multiple teams to champion excellent relationships with our broker partners.

Accountabilities:

Are you passionate about the successful evaluation, selection, negotiation of business?

·  Responsible for the successful evaluation, selection, negotiation and pricing for new business opportunities and retention policies in order to insure a profitable book of business within an established underwriting authority
·  Deliver Aviva Ally training to our broker partners and offer on-going support on appetite and usage
·  Foster excellent relationships through daily management of our broker partners
·  Identify areas of opportunity to move the business forward
·  Work collaboratively with staff to raise your level of expertise

Do you love to build and maintain awareness?

·  You will educate on market trends, pricing levels, and policy offerings in the region you service.

How do you respond to inquiries?

·  We keep engaged with our partners to drive the end customer experience and a meaningful partnership within the portfolio

Required Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills:

·  2 plus years’ experience in commercial insurance underwriting with Property and Casualty knowledge, and familiarity with IRCA rules and regulations.
·  Highly motivated and enthusiastic
·  Strong sales acumen, marketing, communication, and negotiation skills
·  Ability to work both independently and as part of a team while meeting meaningful deadlines
·  Superior organization, time-management, and the ability to adapt in a dynamic priority changing environment
·  CIP designation or a willingness to complete the designation
·  Effective written and verbal skills for both internal and external partners
·  Strong attention to detail, accuracy is a critical component for success in this role
·  Experience in using Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new programs such as RTM, RTG, and Case Manager
·  You will need to be confident, and comfortable to facilitate training to brokers
·  Vested interest in learning and building career in the general insurance space
