Scrum Master

Job description

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Conduct inception workshops as required to evolve project objectives
• Create high level sprint plans, releases required for the initiative
• Collaborate with IT Architecture, Product Owners and team to evolve sprint plans
• Maintain product backlog in collaboration with product owners
• Facilitate daily scrums, sprint planning, retrospectives and sprint demo
• Ability to clear blockers for team to move forward
• Escalate issues to leadership to ensure blockers are cleared if unresolved at project level
• Communicate effectively with no ambiguity during project execution
• Work with product owner to approve/close user stories during sprint execution
• Own all project documentation during project execution
• Collaborate with sprint team, QA team, business team to achieve sprint goals and objectives
• Understand and articulate interdependencies, constraints during project execution
• Collaborate with other IT teams, Architecture teams in the organization as required, with vendor teams on an onsite/offshore model
• Understand the functional aspects of Enterprise Data Hubs, data integrations, data warehouses, data marts
• Write queries for data from the Enterprise Data Hub and assist other BSAs and product owners for elaboration of requirements, user stories or support testing activities when required
• Create user stories along with other BAs, BSAs, conduct story point estimation and sequence user stories from backlog for delivery in each sprint
• Establish and maintain sprint velocities and track project delivery
• Maintain and publish status reports to IT leadership
• Within a defined timeframe, escalate to IT leadership to flex resources/staffing as required during project execution
• Collaborate with third party vendors for data integration projects, staffing needs
• Work as release coordinator for production deployment and roll out

Skills Required:

• 8+ years of experience working as a Scrum Master/Project Manager for data warehouse & data mart projects (Hadoop, Informatica, Qlikview…)
• Experience in Insurance Property & Casualty domain strongly preferred or as a secondary Financial Services
• 3+ years of experience writing hive or impala queries, SQL queries
• Ability to use Jira to track sprint execution and project execution
• Agile Certified Scrum Master certification mandatory
• PMP an asset
• Experience working in diverse multicultural environment with different vendors, onsite/offshore vendor teams etc.
