The Role

We are looking for a Strategic People Business Partner to provide specialist consultancy to Aviva Investors (AI) ExCo members, and Senior Leaders, to optimise people value for business outcomes. Partnering with front office functions you will ensure all people activities are planned, informed and executed smoothly. You will design and implement the People strategies and plan for transformation and business initiatives. Lead the talent agenda, ensuring talented people thrive. Focus on growing the distinctive capabilities to enable the future vision of AI.                                  

The Team

The People Function is made up of circa 25 HR professionals including Talent Acquisition, Development, Reward and Business Partnering. You will be joining a high performing, but close-knit team supporting our business globally.

Responsibilities

· 
Holistic view of all people activity, to make decisions appropriately. Accountable for decisions which shape, recommend and agree the business areas People Strategy, process and policy.

· 
Lead the operating model design for the business areas and ensure aligned to organisational design principles (inc regular monitoring of compliance)

· 
Aids the decision making of senior management on appointments, compensation and leadership.

· 
Considers risk and reward when making business decisions, while ensuring that effective and proportionate risk management processes and controls are in place at all times in compliance with relevant Group Policies.

· 
Accountability for delivering major change programmes or project work-streams within aligned business areas

· 
Manage workforce within headcount & finance targets whilst ensuring sufficient capability to deliver the future strategic priorities

· 
Business Partners by providing strategic counsel to AI ExCo members and their senior leadership teams.

· 
Focus on driving the business areas leadership, succession, employee engagement, culture and talent plans, coordinating Global associated activities, collaborating with the international aligned BPs.

· 
Participates as an active member of the SLTs executing strategies and plans to deliver the global business strategy.

· 
Develop and drive delivery of people strategy, expert in Org Effectiveness and managing & implementing change. 

· 
Working with the SLTs to deliver business priorities through their people. 

· 
Ensure the business areas have the capability required to deliver business priorities today and for tomorrow, attracting a talented, diverse future workforce. 

· 
Scanning the external horizon to identify new ideas/opportunities in support of business priorities/growth and aligned with global people strategy.

· 
Lead for specific people change projects. This may also include delivery of people change more broadly across AI or the wider people function.  Where possible developing people solutions that can be used again across other business units ‘once for many’.

· 
Strong leadership of Business Partnering teams, role modelling AI values and collaboration across the people function. 

· 
Ensures the overall People offering is efficient, cost effective, fit for purpose, meets the unique needs of the business, and supports achievement of AI global strategy & plans.

· 
Participate in external forums to ensure specialist knowledge is current and external best practice is brought to AI.

· 
While this role does not have line management responsibilities, the expectation is that leadership of others is a requirement.

· 
Indirect leadership of Centres of Excellence (Talent & OD; Comms and Reward partners) and People Services including Payroll, Resourcing, Learning and Data and Analytics services, for example.

In addition to this stakeholder management and relationship building is also key to be able to influence agendas and decision making.  Extensive internal & external stakeholder relationships are a key requirement in the role

We work together closely, often under pressure, but we have a privileged view of the business. We also look after each other, cover for each other, deliver great things and get to see the tangible results of our work

Deep HR knowledge and awareness of the activities across the People function

· 
Good understanding of relevant markets and the financial services industry, especially front office within investment / assessment management

· 
Familiarity with AI strategy, products, distribution channels and markets

· 
Politically agile with strong organisational awareness

· 
Forward-thinking mindset and an ability to develop new ideas, be creative and join the dots of seemingly disparate activities

· 
Work effectively on multiple initiatives and comfortable to make decisions and use independent judgement

· 
Understanding of the risks faced by the function, the tolerance for those risks and the controls required to manage and mitigate these risks within appetite.

· 
Specialist in OD/Culture, Performance, Talent, Learning and Leadership, delivering local solutions based on Group frameworks

· 
Strong organisation, prioritisation and planning skills

· 
Ability to flex style and influence variety of different stakeholders, across multiple levels of seniority

· 
Ability to challenge and positively influence others, at all levels and resilient to resistance from stakeholders

· 
Strong business acumen, coupled with excellent project management / facilitation skills
