The Role

An exciting opportunity to work with our ESG team to strengthen our market leading stewardship program.  Reporting to the Global Head of Governance & Stewardship, this permanent role based in London, will help deliver team objectives related to company engagement, proxy voting, investment integration and ESG thought leadership.  

The Team

This role is to help deliver Aviva Investors’ stewardship strategy through:

·  Development of market leading and investment focused voting and responsible investment policies
·  Execution of Aviva Investors stewardship program, discharging AI’s rights and obligations as long-term providers of capital to the market.
·  Improve client outcomes by enhancing Aviva Investors investment processes through the integration of ESG factors across selected asset classes.
·  Contribute towards the successful winning and retaining of institutional and retail client business through the demonstration of RI capabilities.
·  Project Aviva Investors market leadership through public reporting of ESG positions and activities

Responsibilities

·  Manage board level engagement with portfolio companies to understand ESG investment considerations and influence positive change.
·  Development of proxy voting and stewardship policies and rules for select markets.
·  Execution of approved voting rules across AI’s global portfolios. Ensure timely engagement with relevant investment teams when determining voting positions.
·  Lead on specific strategic stewardship programs including climate related engagement and voting initiatives
·  Assist with the development and implementation of robust and outcome orientated ESG investment integration for agreed asset classes.
·  Ensure all internal systems and processes are managed in accordance with compliance requirements, including conflicts of interest policy related to proxy voting.
·  Management of governance related vendor and 3rd party research relationships to ensure ESG solutions for clients are delivered within budget and to the required standard.
·  Contribute towards key ESG publications including the responsible investment annual review. Produce library of case studies showcasing the effectiveness of integration and stewardship activities.

Requirements

·  Minimum 3-5 year’s experience in responsible investment, with a focus on proxy voting and company engagement
·  Deep understand of how existing and emerging ESG considerations can impact investment performance.
·  Demonstrable knowledge of the proxy voting process, including policy development, research, execution and operations.
·  Highly organised approach and deadline driven with excellent communication skill
·  Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills and a strong team player 

Highly Desirable

·  Educated to degree standard with relevant degree
·  CFA or relevant post-graduate financial qualification preferred
