About the role

The main purpose of this role is to provide a full technical assessment for new and existing individual income protection claims.

You will lead your own portfolio of claims, which may involve complex or sensitive issues. No two cases are alike, and any claim could involve a combination of medical assessment, financial reasoning, rehabilitation to the workplace and counselling skills during a difficult time in our customers’ lives. You will negotiate with customers and explain the reasoning for decisions whilst maintaining a high level of customer service at all times.

Outstanding training will be provided on a 1;1 bases over an initial period, depending on your level of experience, and you will be gradually supported into working effectively on an independent basis.

Key responsibilities

· 
Manage and develop a relationship with our customers, some of whom may be vulnerable

· 
Confidently discuss sensitive medical information in depth with customers at an early stage

· 
Work together with your team to help simplify the claims journey to ensure the best outcomes

· 
Consult with expert support as appropriate to effectively handle the claim

Skills and Experience required

· 
Educated to GCSE Level or equivalent, to include English and Maths

· 
Experience in maintaining relationships either in a work or social environment

· 
Excellent telephony manner

· 
Ability to analyse evidence and interpret important points

· 
Proven ability to work in a team

· 
Good planning, negotiation and organisational skills

· 
Flexibility, reliance and desire for continuous personal development
