Job description



We are recruiting Actuarial Analysts to join our key IFRS 17 programme on a 12-month FTC. The programme is responsible for producing IFRS 17 compliant financials, applying actuarial judgement in developing a suitable methodology and communicating impacts to the wider business.

Successful candidates will work in either the UK Life IFRS 17 Commercial team or the IFRS 17 Transition team. The former is responsible for leading discussions on how IFRS 17 impacts the day-to-day running of the business, and for analysing and communicating the impact on financials. The latter are responsible for calculating the contractual service margin (CSM) for a restated IFRS 17 compliant 1/1/2022 balance sheet, covering a range of different life insurance products.

Key aspects of the role:

· 
Producing calculations and analysis assessing the impact of IFRS 17 on the actuarial liabilities across a range of affected products

· 
Developing new processes to meet the various needs of the project – for example, retrospective calculations of CSM or projections of IFRS distributable profits for Corporate Business Plan

· 
Carrying out work with competence and care, and evidencing the controls that have been performed to mitigate the risk of inaccurate results 

· 
Communicating with stakeholders across the business and understanding their requirements

Skills, knowledge and experience we’re looking for:

· 
Part-qualified Life actuary, or actuarial analyst with equivalent experience, with financial reporting experience or detailed knowledge of life insurance products

· 
A broad technical knowledge and understanding of actuarial principles, formulae and methodology

· 
An awareness of the new IFRS17 standard would be advantageous but can be learned in role

· 
Highly numerate and analytical with a developed capability to interpret data and establish alternatives and solutions to complex problems

· 
Ability to work independently, take ownership of tasks and escalate where necessary

· 
Strong communication skills and an ability to work with people effectively

· 
Understand the needs of our end customers

· 
A high degree of computer literacy and strong excel skills

· 
Resilience, creativity and flexibility given challenges of implementing a complex, unprecedented new reporting standard
