Job Description

Database administrator: Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain all client databases which include performance monitoring, troubleshooting and client support. Perform changes within Company regulations and security standards. Assist with testing, implementation, and installation of new/improved systems, as well as product upgrades. Attend meetings and interact regularly with management, team, and clients to continuously improve services. Participate in On-Call rotation schedule.

Job Requirements


Has a thorough knowledge of the SQL server DBMS, and a basic knowledge of at least one other DBMS. Where available, is industry certified in primary DBMS. Advises on the appropriate application of database technology to systems development. For primary DBMS (SQL Server), is able to perform or direct all standard, and several complex DBA functions like: storage management, performance tuning, physical database design, data replication management, logical database design, complex recovery management, SQL coding and optimization techniques, etc. Liaises with database software vendors on issues such as software upgrades, fixes and patches necessary for the software. Downloads same, and applies using good judgment.

The SQL DBA must have SQL knowledge to perform the following: INDEXING, PARTIONING, SQL INSTALLATION, SQL REPLICATION, DBCC commands basic skills, Ability to troubleshoot SQL server performance issues, T-SQL Query, Mirroring, Cluster.
