· The DSS Application Development team are responsible for several software products including train ticket vending machines and hotel check in kiosks.
· A java software developer is needed to assist with high demand on the team from clients to deliver enhancements to existing products and build future products.

Over the next 2-5 years the team will be undergoing a digital transformation, the change has already begun with a move to agile/scrum delivery and will continue. This will enable faster response to client needs and innovation within the team.

Job Description:

· Seeking new team members with a desire to work in an agile/scrum environment
· The role will primarily involve creating, maintaining and implementing source code for both existing products and as part of the development of new products
· The role will also involve:
· working with the Technical Architect and Application Development Manager to provide estimates to the business and clients
· Key deliverables will be working code, software documentation and design work
· Expected to deliver to best practice standards and build quality

May need to attend client workshops from time to time.

Essential Criteria:

· Demonstrable Java experience
· Demonstrable knowledge of object oriented programming and design patterns
· Fluent English Language Skills: Able to communicate with stakeholders on a day to day basis via telephone, email and face to face
· Logical approach to problem solving
· Ability to work under pressure

Desirable Criteria:

· Agile development
· Automated unit testing
· Knowledge of web programming
· Test automation/hardware simulation
· Experience using tools
· Atlassian JIRA/Confluence
· Subversion / GIT
