Essential Functions:

• Maintains the confidentiality and security of patient data stored in the Cancer Registry files.

• Assist the client in maintaining currency in case finding, abstracting, coding, and follow-up and data processing procedures in accordance with the ACoS Standards.

• Assist in coordinating client activities of the Cancer Registry in conjunction with the Cancer Committee and Tumor Conference, if applicable.

• Timely submission of expenditures and resource use (expense reports, timesheets, and vacation and education requests) in accordance with budgetary guidelines. Abstracts a minimum of 6 abstracts per day.

 

Education, Experience & Licensure:

• High School Diploma or GED required.

• Certification with the National Cancer Registrars Association (NCRA) as a Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) mandatory.

• Maintenance of continuing education requirements and membership in NCRA.

• Graduate from an approved Cancer Information Management Program, HIM Program, Medical Record Technician Program or AHIMA Independent Study Program with associated professional credential preferred.

• A minimum of two years of experience in Cancer Data field, preferably at an ACOS approved program.
