About the Role
ARM’s Media Processing Group (MPG) produces graphics hardware and software products for mobile and embedded devices. Our Mali™ Graphics Processors (GPUs) have an advanced, highly programmable architecture for accelerating 2D and 3D graphics, specifically tuned for high performance and energy efficiency.

The flagship Mali G71 multi-core GPU sets a new standard for graphics and compute performance with low energy consumption. Our OpenGL ES, OpenCL and Vulkan drivers support cutting edge gaming and state-of-the-art user interfaces on operating systems such as Linux and Android. What will I be accountable for? We are expanding the Trondheim graphics software team and are looking particularly for embedded software engineers who have a strong knowledge of 3D/2D graphics along with proven technical skills. The role involves cooperating with graphics teams in Europe and Asia, as well as customers throughout the world. Applicants will be working within the software engineering team to develop graphics drivers for the current and the next generation of ARM graphics cores for various platforms.

Job Requirements

What skills, experience and qualifications do I need?

Essential:

·  Bachelors, Masters or PhD (computer science or electronics engineering) with good academic record.
·  Experience in 2D/3D graphics technology and standards such as OpenGL, OpenGL ES, OpenVG, M3G, Direct3D Mobile, DirectX, Metal, Mantle or Vulkan.
·  Knowledge of C/C++ .
·  Proficiency in problem solving and debugging skills.
·  Willingness and ability to contribute to process improvement initiatives.
·  Practical, organized and analytical approach to work.
·  Good English communication skills, oral and written.
·  Willingness to occasionally travel to ARM’s location in Cambridge and worldwide.

Desirable :

·  Knowledge of embedded OS and/or RTOS, including one or more of: embedded Linux, Android, Nucleus, Taizen.
·  Experience with device drivers, microprocessors and embedded system hardware architectures
ARM architecture knowledge.
·  Experience with assembler-level programming and debugging (ARM desirable but not essential).
·  Experience with version control systems like git or syn.
·  Experiences with embedded software environments such as cross-compilation or remote target debugging.
·  Experience in software optimisation and instrumentation.
·  Experience with Linux /UNIX and Microsoft Windows host environments.
