The System and Software team in Shanghai, China is responsible for developing and improving the software ecosystem around ARM's current and next generation of applications processors. This often involves working with processors and other hardware not yet available to the general public. Work is carried out on a range of development platforms, software models, FPGAs and early silicon, sometimes many months before the IP is made public by Partner products. This team will work closely with the Enterprise Software team in Austin and the common Software teams in Cambridge, UK to enable key partners and software providers within the ARM software ecosystem.

Job Purpose & Accountabilities:

We are looking for a graduate Embedded Software/Firmware Developer to work on all aspects of the software life cycle for bring-up on new chipset and processors related to ARM subsystems. Key responsibilities include developing key firmware deliverables for booting the application processor, secure feature development, working with key partners to adopt standards, optimizing software for the ARM enterprise environment and implementing key pieces of the standards as reference code. On a day to day basis you will work with Hardware teams to deliver enterprise subsystems optimizing designs for current industry standards.

As a member of an extended Software Development group you will focus on Open Source support for enterprise network and operating systems. You will be working with some of the greatest household names in our industry to help develop, optimize and deliver the software needed to support ARM's cutting edge IP. A key part of this role is to help ARM maintain its leadership in the low-power market, as well as helping ARM grow its role in other market segments.

Education & Qualifications:

BS or MS in Computer Engineering or equivalent degree

Essential Skills & Experience

·  Fluent in English
·  Worked on SW projects that use ARM CPU cores or equivalent
·  Experience with C in bare metal or RTOS environments
·  Experience with version control systems, particularly distributed tools such as Git or SVN
·  Knowledge of the Computer Architecture, especially as it related to the ARM Architecture
·  Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills
·  Ability to work independently and in a distributed team
·  Proficiency with the GNU tool chain

Desirable Skills & Experience

·  Experience with Firmware, Linux kernel and/or application software development
·  Familiarity with open-source project development cycles and contribution processes
