Graduate Physical Implementation Engineer

This position provides a fantastic opportunity to work as part of the Media Processing Group (MPG) on a variety of physical implementation related tasks from steering multimedia IP developments to achieve class leading power, performance and area, working with EDA vendors to explore and utilize the latest in optimization technology.

The Media Processing Group (MPG) in ARM has as its mission to be at the forefront of advanced multimedia IP products for the consumer, wireless and automotive infotainment markets, providing a wide range of challenges and physical implementation learning opportunities. You will join an international team of motivated and innovative engineers working together to remain on the cutting edge of IP and SoC development techniques.

The Media Processing Group (MPG) produces graphics hardware and software products for mobile and embedded devices. Our product portfolio includes GPU, Display and Video IP and our Mali™ Graphics Processor is the world’s #1 shipping GPU. The position will also give the opportunity to travel and collaborate with our other teams, e.g. in the UK.

Job Requirements

Education & Qualifications
Good university degree, in electronic engineering or computer science ideally, although other science graduates will be considered if they have relevant experience.

Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities

·  Work as part of GPU product development team to analyse and optimise our GPU designs.
·  Improve and maintain flows for reporting key performance metrics related to our GPUs.
·  Provide quality Power, Performance and Area (PPA) feedback to design teams
·  Implement and verify ASIC designs of varying size and complexity using suitable front and/or back-end design flows on cutting edge process nodes.

Essential Skills & Experience

·  Understanding of microprocessor fundamentals.
·  Basic understanding of CMOS technology.
·  Programming language, such as TCL, C, Python or Java.
·  Motivation to work both unsupervised and as part of a project team.
·  Good English communication skills, oral and written.

Desirable Skills & Experience

·  Use of Linux and shell programming.
·  Familiarity with high-level simulation language, such as VHDL or Verilog.
·  Some microprocessor, ASIC systems or HDL and synthesis design experience.
·  Experience with Place&Route, floorplanning, STA or standard cells design.
·  Knowledge of the principles of 3D graphics.
