We are currently seeking a Sourcing Assistant to join us at Sainsbury's Argos in Milton Keynes. This role is key in supporting the identification, development and account management of the optimum sourcing opportunities within the allocated product categories.

As a Sourcing Assistant you will:

Support the Sourcing Manager in implementing all aspects of the department strategy to deliver all KPIs
Support the Sourcing Manager in delivering a robust supply base that fulfils our Global Sourcing Strategy and meets our Ethical and Technical standards across all sites; ensuring supplier performance reviews take place
Support the sourcing process from supplier engagement through to supplier set up
Maintain timely commercial awareness of developments within the supply base, gain understanding on market trend
Support and track the product development process from brief to selection with the supply base; prepare buying trip data, with clear follow up actions with all parties
Maintain quotation records and support price negotiations with suppliers to ensure margin objectives are met
Support the order management process from purchase order, sealing and approval process to shipment delivery, ensure critical path trackers are accurate and flagging potential risk
Establish strong communication with UK and Asia colleagues and suppliers

Achieve the commercial objectives; gain market knowledge
Follow the operational procedures to deliver great results
Communicate issues and proactively identify solutions on a timely basis; escalation procedure is essential

What I need to know:

Excellent communication and negotiation skills
Ideally held a commercial role in a retail environment
Commercial awareness
Numerate and comfortable with analysis
Strong Excel skills
Good organisation skills
