Position Description
TN Americas is seeking a Mechanical Engineer I to support our site location in Greensboro, NC with additional travel and rotations opportunities to France .
Under direct supervision, this position performs standard engineering tasks utilizing established practices and procedures; while supporting different areas such as quality, project management, marketing and performance improvement.
The position requires candidate to follow applicable engineering procedures in order to align work processes with regulatory and customer requirements and to develop skills in order to ensure that the team/unit reaches required level of performance to meet project objectives. Assignments may involve responsibility for planning and conducting a complete task or portion of larger more diverse projects under the direction of more experienced engineering personnel.
Positions will vary in responsibilities and include the following scopes of work:
Engineering
· Performs standard engineering assignments typically in areas of design, development, analysis, evaluation, testing, and preparation of specifications, execution of field tasks and resolution of field problems.
· Receives assistance and instructions on unusual or more complex features and possible solutions, as needed.
· Ensures compliance with government, organization and customer engineering standards.
· May independently evaluate, select and apply standard technical techniques, procedures, and criteria using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications.
· Works on special projects, as directed.
· Performs other related duties and tasks, as required.
Quality
· Conducts independent inspections or surveillance of materials and products, as assigned.
· May review documents, prepare checklists, conduct assessment interviews and/or prepare assessment reports.
· Reviews QA procedures to verify compliance with ASME, IEEE and NRC regulations.
· Develops basic knowledge of NRC or other pertinent regulations and industry codes and standards.
· Develops and implements nuclear and/or non-nuclear quality assurance procedures to be followed for design, procurement, construction and/or operation of materials and/or processes.
· Reviews quality assurance specifications, test reports and other documentation to ensure that safety and quality assurance requirements are met.
· May inspect and review contractors' and vendors' work for compliance with QA standards.
· Train for QC certification.
Project Administration
· Assist project leadership for major commercial design, construction, expansion, extension, renovation or component replacement projects.
· Assists with the coordination of project plans/schedules/materials to ensure project quality, reliability, cost and timing objectives.
· Assists with the development of project assignments, timetables and responsibilities for team members.
· Coordinates multiple project activities including organizing personnel, materials and equipment.
· Helps define and forecast needed skills to meet project objectives.
Marketing
· Collects, organizes and analyzes market intelligence on customers, competitors, and market trends so that the company can deliver competitive customer solutions.
· Implements and shares applicable processes and procedures that best meet the objectives set forth by the team.
· Shares knowledge about customers, markets, etc. so that the Marketing team’s competencies and performance effectively support business objectives.
· Assists business units in exploring and defining potential areas of market expansion or penetration and assist in preparing specific operating unit marketing plans.
· Makes best usage of available resources and seeks cost effective solutions.
Desired profile
Qualifications :
All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for this opportunity. Candidates who exceed minimum qualifications may be considered for a higher level position:
· BS in Mechanical Engineering/Engineering Technology, plus 0-2 years of engineering experience. An advanced degree may be substituted for related exp. (MS 1-2 yrs. or PhD 1-3 yrs.).
· Basic knowledge of mechanical engineering fundamentals.
· Willingness to travel or accept site assignments.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills.
· Knowledge of current marketing and social media applications.
· Proficiency with PC-based applications such as MS Office.
· Ability to interact effectively with all levels of staff and management.
· Ability to change priorities quickly, confront issues directly and work well as part of a team.

· M.S. in Mechanical Engineering
· Relevant intern experience or previous engineering work-related technical experience
· Experience at nuclear power facility
· Experience with any of the following:
· GTSTRUDL
· ANSYS
· AutoCAD
TRAVEL
Sporadic (up to 25%) domestic and some international. Travel requirements are based on the needs of the organization and customer.
