COMPANY DESCRIPTION

CB&I/AREVA MOX Services, LLC is a consortium of companies based in Aiken, SC and formed to advance the Department of Energy's mission to dispose of surplus weapon grade plutonium. The plutonium is disposed of by mixing it with uranium and forming a mixed oxide (MOX) fuel for use in existing nuclear reactors. After the MOX fuel is irradiated in the reactor, the plutonium can no longer be used for nuclear weapons. AREVA Federal Services provides resources to MOX Services for the design, construction, licensing and operations of the MOX Fuel Fabrication Facility (MFFF) to be built at the Savannah River Site. Resources provided are in the following disciplines: Licensing, ES&H, Integrated Safety Analysis, QA, Engineering Assurance, Process Engineering, Systems Engineering, Design and Engineering (Structural, Electrical, I &C, Seismic, Nuclear Criticality, Piping, Mechanical, HVAC), Project Safety, Procurement, Project Controls, Software Design, Training, Records Management, Operations, and Information Technology.

POSITION DESCRIPTION


Orano Federal Services LLC, a subsidiary of Orano USA, is seeking a Structural/Seismic Engineer II-III .

This is a Structural Design Engineer position within the Process Unit Design and Commissioning (PUDC) Engineering Organization for the MOX Fuel Fabrication Facility (MFFF) Project. This position is responsible for providing engineering support for process units within the facility for which the design has been completed and fabrication is underway. The team is responsible for resolution of issues related to the process glove boxes and equipment from construction, fabrication, and engineering.

The selected individual will be responsible for the following:

Perform structural/seismic/thermal analysis on designs including gloveboxes, frames, equipment, pipings and vessels, etc.

·
Prepare calculations, review and approve design drawings and technical documents;

·
Qualify glovebox shells, bellows, support frames and anchors to maintain integrity/confinement under dead weight, pressure, thermal expansion, seismic inertia, externally applied nozzle loads, impact loading from load drops, and external missiles;

·
Qualify process equipment, supports, cranes, barriers, welds, fasteners, and limit stops to remain structural integrity under dead weight, live loading, extreme seismic loading, and impact loading;

·
Qualify pressure vessel and piping for dead weight, pressures, thermal expansion, and seismic inertia loading;

·
Transmit accelerations, reactions, and deflections for use by interfacing structural, piping, and electrical organizations; and

·
Coordinate work efforts with other disciplinary groups as required

Desired profile

Qualifications :

All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for this opportunity. Candidates who exceed minimum qualifications may be considered for a higher level position.
·  BS in Mechanical, Civil or Construction Engineering/Engineering Technology plus 2-3 years of related engineering experience. An advanced degree may be substituted for related exp. (MS 1-2 yrs. or PhD 1-3 yrs.). In applicable states a PE license will be accepted in lieu of a 4 yr engineering degree.
· 
Minimum of 3 years experience in stress/structural analysis with FEA.

· 
Proficient in ANSYS and ANSYS APDL, Microsoft Office, and MATHCAD.

· 
Able to understand and work with 2D and/or 3D drawings of complex equipment.

· 
Organized, technically competent, have excellent oral and written communication skills.

The following requirements are desired and will be used to differentiate all candidates who apply for this position.
·  Working knowledge of National Codes and Standards such as AISC, AWS, ASME VIII, ASME B31.3, ASTM, and ACI standards
·  Understanding of regulatory requirements for engineering, analysis and design of safety-related structures.
·  Experience with pressurized vessels & piping, crane, hoists, automated manufacturing systems, and glove box design is preferable..
·  Proficiency in AutoCAD, Solidworks, Pro/E .
