POSITION DESCRIPTION


Reporting to the Environment Supervisor, this position is responsible for the following duties:

Responsibilities include:
· Conducting the field portions of the environmental monitoring program
· Following procedures and work instructions for environmental sampling
· Preparation of samples for shipping and Chain of Custody documentation
· Ensuring equipment is well maintained and properly calibrated
· Performing site inspections and assisting in cleanup of small leaks and spills
· Assisting in the operation of landfills, HSWDG facilities and lay-down areas
· Preparing and providing environmental awareness training to other departments and contractors
· Assisting in maintaining comprehensive master files of all environmental data and operational records
· Assisting in the preparation of weekly, monthly, and annual reports

Desired profile

Qualifications :

All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for this opportunity. Candidates who exceed minimum qualifications may be considered for a higher level position.
·  An Environmental Technician Diploma or equivalent education
·  Field work training and/or experience
·  Training or experience in sampling techniques, equipment operation and calibration
·  Must be physically fit (must be capable of sustained physical activity including: walking, climbing, and lifting)
·  Familiarity with Microsoft Office software required; experience using environmental databases preferred
·  Environmental and/or mining experience preferred
·  Experience operating snow machines, boats, and all-terrain vehicles is an asset
·  Good writing skills are an asset

Work Location & Schedule:

·  McClean Lake Mine site- 7 days in and 7 days out rotating schedule
·  Normally an 11 hour work day, although some activity outside of normal working hours may be required
