Main Mission
To contribute to ArcelorMittal's production lines competitiveness and sustainability by the development or improvement of innovative processes or processing routes (from Mining and Mineral Processes to Metallic Coating, through Cokemaking, Ironmaking, Steelmaking, Dowstream Processes)
Activities
- Develop and deploy process solutions ( process models, instrumentation, control )
- Support to plants for quality, cost, reliability improvements …
- Product quality mastering throughout the production routes
- Evaluation of raw materials value (coals, scraps, ores, …) for increased flexibility
- Design and evaluation of sustainable process technologies, especially to drastically reduce CO2 emission
Key R&D facilities
- Simulation and pilot tools:
- Mineral processing pilots, sintering pilot, 6t steelmaking pilot, in-line rolling casting pilot, hot rolling and cold rolling - pilots, high speed strip guiding pilot, …
- Analytical tools
- Numerical simulation and modeling Tools

Who we are looking for / General objective / Mission générale:

Integrate the recent "data science" tools in the development process of new advanced high strength steels,
Responsible of research activities on Digital Product Development
The digital product development is a worldwide revolution in progress in ArcelorMittal and the R&D laboratory is following this essential trend.
As a material research engineer with good knowledge in data science, you will be responsible for :
- supporting the product developement activities through the statistical and mathematical analysis of product data using data mining tools and methods derived from machine learning technologies.
- participating in the implementation and use of microstructure analysis through deep learning technics.
You will work within the product development teams contributing to improve the development efficiency.

Profil requis

WHAT WE WILL NEED :

PhD or Master in Material Science with good knowledge in computer Science, Statistics or Data Science

- Good knowledge in Material Science and metallurgy
- Strong conceptual knowledge and background in probability, applied statistics, data mining, and machine learning
- We are looking for a rigorous, autonomous and good communicating person.
