Title: System Development Engineer

Worksite: Seattle, WA

Position Responsibilities

Use technology to solve straightforward problems, seeking input and guidance from team members. The scope of work is at the small to large component or feature level. Create or have responsibility to improve or invent small tools or applications. Work on a defined project then implement and deliver it on schedule, applying appropriate technologies and current engineering best practices. Write code that is secure, stable, testable, maintainable, and has minimal defects. Demonstrate proficiency in a broad range of technologies (hardware, software, networking, operating systems) and how they interact with one another in moderately complex systems. Make appropriate implementation trade-off decisions. Assume responsibility for the state of both the inherited systems and those delivered. Have designs and implementations (code, operational readiness, deployment practices, system changes, or otherwise) reviewed and approved. Practice appropriate testing techniques and produce test results. Classify, store, and handle data in accordance with Amazon policies. Track operational and security risks then resolve, mitigate and/or escalate them in a timely manner. Gain an understanding of the maintenance characteristics, runtime properties, and dependencies of your team’s infrastructure, including hardware platform, operating system, and build dependencies.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Position Requirements:

Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Information Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field and two years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation. Must have two years of experience in the following skill(s): Linux or Windows systems administration; and at least one of the following: (1.) database administration in MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MS-SQL, or MariaDB; (2.) working with one of the following NoSQL technologies (DynamoDB, Redis, MongoDB, or Cassandra), and ETL tools in managing data workflow jobs; (3.) Network administration (DNS, TCP/IP, BGP, Load Balancing, software-based IPSEC, SSL-based VPN solutions), and Virtualization (Hypervisors, VMware, or Xen); (4.) working with one of the following programming languages (C++, Java, C#, .NET, Node.js, PHP, Python, or Ruby); or (5.) DevOps background and demonstrated knowledge of Git, Perforce, SVN, or TFVC.
