Job description

DESCRIPTION

Ever wondered how Amazon offers the earth’s biggest selection and still manages to offer lower prices every day to our customers? Running an operation of this scale requires tremendous automation in managing Selling Partners (1P & 3P Sellers), catalog, inventory, pricing, promotions and more. Amazon Marketplace Tech is the organization behind this.

The Selling Partner Insights and Engagement (SPIE) team within Marketplace Tech is responsible for: 1) developing the next generation automated notification tools suite for Selling Partners; 2) measuring and increasing engagement of Selling Partners to accelerate the spinning of Amazon’s flywheel across all interaction channels including homepage/email/sms/mobile push/Alexa and Amazon Marketplace Developer Service (AMDS); 3) giving Selling Partners easy access to the reporting and analytics they need to grow their business with Amazon and drive up customer satisfaction; and 4) developing new insights to drive selling engagement and partner with Seller Central teams to build “ML” ready applications which will lower the development costs of discovering, sharing and creating business value out of data science driven insights.

You will engage directly with the 3+ engineering teams and business leaders to design software architectures and engineering plans to meet business needs. You will play a key role in delivering innovative and robust solutions that drive ongoing improvements to Amazon retail business and measurable business results. This is a highly visible role with broad impact on Amazon's worldwide retail business. This is your chance to make a direct impact to Amazon’s core Retail business.

In this role you will be responsible for scoping and delivering large projects end-to-end. Responsibilities include collection of business and systems requirements from internal and external customers, writing functional specifications, driving project schedules from design to release, and managing the production launch. You will lead and coordinate design/implementation efforts between internal teams and outside Selling Partners to develop optimal solutions. You will be expected to make appropriate tradeoffs to optimize time-to-market, clearly communicate goals, roles, responsibilities, and desired outcomes to internal cross-functional and remote project teams.

The right candidate will possess a strong program management background, will have demonstrated experience leading large projects, and will have a well-rounded technical background in current web technologies. You must be able to thrive and succeed in an entrepreneurial environment, and not be hindered by ambiguity or competing priorities. This means you are not only able to develop and drive high-level strategic initiatives, but can also roll up your sleeves, dig in and get the job done. As a TPM, you will anticipate technical bottlenecks, provide escalation management, anticipate and make tradeoffs, and balance the business needs versus technical constraints. An ability to take large, complex projects and break them down into manageable pieces, develop functional specifications, then deliver them in a successful and timely manner is expected. Maturity, high judgment, negotiation skills, ability to influence, analytical talent and leadership are essential to success in this role.
