Job description

DESCRIPTION

Latest data from Business Insider shows that almost 50% of online shoppers visit Amazon first. Our team is responsible for creating a vision for the next generation Amazon shopping experience and delivering it to millions of customers. We believe that shopping on Amazon should be simple, delightful, and full of wow moments for everyone, whether you are technically savvy or new to online shopping.

We are seeking a seasoned Software Development Manager (SDM) to join the Search Suggestions team. The charter of the team is to help customers craft better searches, and serendipitously discover new experiences, by developing the most utilized search features on Amazon.com: search autocomplete and spelling correction. Our platform uses massive amounts of data and machine intelligence to generate the best possible search suggestions and spelling corrections with low latency.

In this role you will use data to power novel experiences in search autocomplete and evaluate more effective algorithms for spelling correction. You will make improvements to the search autocomplete customer experience by designing and implementing machine learning and deep learning algorithms to improve ranking and candidate generation, conduct A/B tests, analyze experimental results, and launch features. You will drive features from idea to deployment and your work will directly impact millions of customers.

As a software development manager, you will own the search customer experience for all device types and in all marketplaces. You will be working closely with a team of applied scientists and engineers to develop accurate customer intent understanding using machine learning techniques and build systems that become more and more intelligent over time.
A successful candidate will have a strong track record of launching data-driven customer facing features, a strong interest in mentoring and developing others, great communication skills, and the motivation to achieve results in a fast-paced environment.
