The Team: Sampling is a program in Consumables which ensures the right customers are exposed to new products. Using ML we determine which new products will delight which set of customers ensuring a high conversion for our partner Brands. Sampling sends out free samples to customers which have higher likelihood of conversion than display ads. The Sampling program has an interesting mix of challenges around targeting, fulfillment and CX which will challenge you to develop innovative solutions and help you gain both technical and business skills.
The Role: As a SDE, you will be part of the technology team for building core CX experiences on .com and automating sampling campaigns to make them self-service, enabling a bigger share of marketing/ads spend by brands. Sampling tech is completely moving towards NAWS which will require you to develop and mentor engineers around multiple AWS technologies. You will need to develop/sharpen your ML skills to ensure we are targeting the right customers and measure that success. Our team has both the startup size and mentality, you will need to be entrepreneurial, wear many hats, and work in a highly collaborative environment. We like to move fast, experiment, iterate and then scale quickly, thoughtfully balancing speed and quality.

You will have to lead design reviews across multiple iterations (Samurai, PE) and with multiple stakeholders effectively representing your team and business to other parts of Amazon. You will have to continuously learn from others and help others grow to enable your team to achieve its best.

Primary Responsibilities include:
1. Assist in recruiting, mentoring and growing a highly skilled team of Product Managers, Software Engineers and QA Engineers
2. Design, own and deliver large/complex software system with effective scaling while keeping operations to a minimum.
3. Work with your peers, stakeholders and leadership to manage expectations in terms of project delivery and personnel growth.
4. Work with your peers, stakeholders and leadership to ensure a robust long term vision
5. Work with engineers and technical groups in the org to define requirements and architect best-in-class solutions
6. Work with your team to optimize day-to-day activities of the engineering team within an Agile/Scrum environment while ensuring high quality output
