Job description

DESCRIPTION

Want to help invent a fun new experience that empowers customers to create, discover and share ideas visually on Amazon? Want to build experiences that will be used by millions of Amazon customers? We are developing a novel community-based shopping experience that has broad appeal. You may have seen Interesting Finds at the top of every page on Amazon (http://amazon.com/finds/). We are now joining together with Amazon Spark (http://amazon.com/spark/) and are looking for talented passionate engineers to imagine and develop an exciting new shopping and curation experience on Amazon.

Amazon's current shopping experience is optimized for utilitarian shopping. This works well when customers have something specific in mind, but customers who aren't seeking anything in particular or can't express in words what they're looking for aren't always well served. For example, a customer shopping for something novel and cool to buy may prefer to explore in order to find something they love. We aim to build a simple, addictive, fun and beautiful social shopping experience for window-shopping where personal identity, serendipity, and impulse are central. As part of this system we also want to empower customers to express their ideas with collections of interesting products and share with the shopping community.
On a day-to-day basis, you'll be part of a small, close-knit team of front end & back end engineers and applied scientists that are agile, data driven, highly collaborative and customer obsessed. You'll help customer behavior, propose ideas, build scalable services and algorithms for customer shopping experiences, measure the results and save learnings. You will partner with product managers, UX researchers, sister engineering teams and applied scientists to create customer delight and inspire them in their shopping missions.
