Software Development Engineer, AWS Lambda

  • Seattle (King)
  • Design / Civil engineering / Industrial engineering

Job description

DESCRIPTION

AWS Lambda is changing the way that companies big and small think about computing in the cloud. Lambda functions offer customer a "serverless" way to create applications, an approach that lets customers turn business logic and application code into scalable, fault-tolerant production systems without requiring every developer to become an expert in distributed systems, deployment technologies, and infrastructure management.

Lambda is a massive scale compute platform and is increasingly becoming the default compute platform for new services. To satisfy the millions of requests Lambda receives requires running millions of sandboxes. When to create / delete and move these sandboxes to deliver the optimum customer latency experience while making the best use of Lambda's resources is a problem that sits at the nexus of distributed systems, Big Data and Machine Learning.

The Seattle-based AWS Lambda team is growing rapidly and is looking for talented software engineers who can help solve these problems; figuring out how to predictively meet the needs of highly variable customer demand as if by magic, while building fault tolerant highly scaleable services that tolerate shits in load of orders of magnitude gracefully. If you are excited by hard problems, massive scale, vast data sets and the opportunity to experiment on genuinely new approaches to solve problems come and talk to use.

Job location is Seattle, WA. Relocation assistance available.

We launched AWS Lambda at re:Invent 2014 as a new compute service for responding to bucket events from S3, update streams from DynamoDB, and for processing stream records in Kinesis, all without needing to provision, manage, or monitor your own infrastructure. But that's just the beginning...

Lambda sits at the nexus of many different AWS services and is at the innovative edge of the mobile and IoT spaces. If you're excited by cloud computing, mobile devices, and the intersection of the two, and you love building distributed systems at massive scale, we want to talk to you! Enjoy collaborating with other teams and learning about them? Then how about a role where every AWS service is a partner?
