The Virtual Systems Services team designs and engineers the simulation environment for accurately modeling processes used in Amazon's global fulfillment operations. We accelerate Amazon's growth by allowing the evaluation and optimization of buildings using new technologies before construction starts. We transform existing production data, orchestrate high fidelity simulations and provide visualization and analytics from the results.
This is a hands-on position where you will be involved in everything from design to delivery of tools to support the simulation and design of Amazon robotic fulfillment operations. As a software development engineer, you will be responsible for driving the technical direction of a complex software system. You will be working with a cross-functional team to prototype, design, and develop software solutions that span service oriented and cloud-based systems.
The ideal candidate is passionate about new opportunities and has a demonstrable track record of success in delivering new and foundational products and features. A commitment to teamwork and strong communication skills (to both business and technical partners) are absolute requirements. Creating reliable, scalable, and high-performance software products requires technical expertise, a sound understanding of the fundamentals of computer science and software engineering, and practical experience building large-scale distributed systems. This person has delivered high-quality technology products/services in a high-growth environment.
· Completed BS in Computer Science or equivalent
· 3+ years of experience building successful production software platforms and systems
· 3+ years of hands-on experience in Java or C++ as well as other high-level languages such as Objective-C and Python
· Computer Science fundamentals in algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysis
· Experience developing cloud software services and an understanding of design for scalability, performance and reliability.
