DESCRIPTION

The Amazon Device and Services Design Group (DDG) creates revolutionary products like Echo, Fire TV, Alexa Communications, and more. We are looking for a highly experienced and motivated Principal UX Designer to raise the bar on how we envision new customer experiences. Are you interested in joining the team to lead Amazon’s future innovations?

The person who takes on this challenge will play the leading role in the most complex, highly visible strategic CX projects, influencing across levels and functions while embracing debate and dialogue to provide the best customer experience. This position drives strategic planning for the development of the organization and helps define future programs in partnership with leadership. The ideal candidate is exceptionally skilled at communicating ideas effectively both within and outside their team and is recognized and acknowledged as a creative UX thought leader. The person in this role is considered the expert in Amazon’s customer experience and creative delivery methodologies, process and best practices, and is actively sought out for advice, counsel, and guidance on those matters. Their influence drives best practices within their design studio, their larger organization and across the company. They lead & develop others by mentorship and by example.

Responsibilities
· Define internal CX planning methodologies and process guidelines; Evangelize with external teams
· Lead sustained and ad-hoc CX envisioning initiatives involving deep cross-functional partnerships
· Set and communicate the CX and experience roadmap, defining high-level milestones, influencing partner teams’ priorities
· Partner with UX studio manager to link output of envisioning efforts to 'next' product release waves
· Work with UX leadership to facilitate & manage defining the future vision for the UX studio; Create a vision and roadmap by which the studio & internal partners can navigate

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Post-graduate degree in a design research-related discipline
· Experience in understanding needs of business and end customers and translating them into right solutions
· Ability to engage with senior executives
· Experience in defining metrics for larger, more complex projects and productivity
· The ability to align efforts of disparate groups to achieve a common goal
· Demonstrated ability to anticipate and manage change in a highly dynamic environment
· Demonstrated ability to work in ambiguous situations and across organizational boundaries
· Tenacity, diplomacy, and a sense of humor

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor’s degree required or work experience in UX, product or program management for 10+ years
· Ability to effectively manage cross functional projects, dependencies and bottlenecks
· Experience escalating issues, anticipating and making trade-offs, balance the business need versus other constraints and maximize business benefit while building great customer experiences
· Experience using problem solving and analytical skills to solve business problems and drive process improvements
· Experience gathering and analyzing large amounts of data and delivering continuous business improvements
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Ability to work effectively with tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
· Proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously
· Strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive
