Amazon Web Services (AWS) Hardware Engineering is a fast growing and leading-edge research and development team that creates enterprise compute and storage server designs for our innovative web service and e-commerce technology platforms. Our designs are industry-leading in terms of performance, frugality and operational excellence, and are critical to the success of the AWS business and the hundreds of thousands of customers who use utility computing today. We are seeking experienced Hardware Design Engineers to build the next generation of our cloud platforms. Our success depends on our world-class server infrastructure; we’re handling massive scale and rapid integration of emergent technologies.

What you will do: As a member of the Server Hardware Thermal/Mechanical Engineering team you’ll be responsible for the design of our server platforms. You’ll provide leadership in the application of new technologies to large scale server deployments in a continuous effort to deliver a world-class customer experience. This is a fast-paced, intellectually challenging position, and you’ll work with thought leaders in multiple technology areas. You’ll have relentlessly high standards for yourself and everyone you work with, and you’ll be constantly looking for ways to improve your products performance, quality and cost. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Experienced in the ability to deliver server hardware products in a multi-disciplined, distributed-responsibility environment
· Experience in working with overseas CM/OEM/ODM vendors in product development
· Experience with server technologies such as: power optimization, board design, thermal, mechanical, BIOS, BMC, signal integrity, networking
· Server validation and issue root cause experience
· Knowledge of datacenter infrastructure constraints including networking, power, space, and cooling
· Strong knowledge of component-level thermal analysis
· Knowledge of data center cooling analysis
· Experienced with LabVIEW automation
· Experienced in gathering requirements and developing technical specifications
· Demonstrated ability to engage technology developers in the industry to track and apply emerging technologies to innovative server designs
· Demonstrated ability to manage and deliver multiple projects at different complexity levels
· Proficient in developing thermal management algorithms
· Proficient using CFD tools such as: Flotherm, Icepak, 6sigma.
· Proficient using CAD Tools such as: Creo, Solidworks.
· Strong knowledge of system-level thermal analysis
· Knowledge of power supply systems
· Experience with power, performance and cost optimization
· Meets/exceeds Amazon's leadership principles requirements for this role.
· Meets/exceeds Amazon's functional/technical depth and complexity for this role.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent
· 0 - 2 years of server industry experience
· Mechanical design, testing and validation experience
· In-depth thermal lab experience: setting up prototypes, instrumentation and running thermal tests
· Experience in compute and storage server mechanical thermal architecture and design for large scale applications.
