DESCRIPTION

Localization team - is looking for a proactive and independent Machine Learning Engineer (Localization) to help bring our Machine Translation platform to the next level. Your mission (and ours) is unique and powerful: empower our customers to be able to shop for any product in their native language in their home country.

We’re looking for someone who loves to work at the intersection between cutting-edge Machine Learning research, and the production needs of building and running large numbers of models at Amazon scale.

As a Machine Learning Engineer (Localization) you will contribute to the architectural vision for a team of highly skilled engineers and researchers in the product localization space. You will get to work with the latest AWS technologies, and massive amounts of data, to build next-generation localization and translation solutions. You will be responsible for transforming latest Machine Translation research results into components that stand the test of large-scale business application.

Responsibilities

· Act as a builder and architect. Design, implement and own core components of our machine translation training and production pipeline.
· Follow Machine Translation research from the perspective of technological and economic feasibility, and turn research results into production-grade code. Support large-scale fast and iterative experimentation, e.g. to improve MT quality.
· Interface with our internal customers to understand requirements, set priorities and communicate direction and progress.
· Own the technical side of feedback processes that inform our Machine Translation improvement strategy.
· Help develop long-term technical and business strategies in the machine translation space.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Experience working with natural language data and tools at the graduate degree level or professionally.
· Experience working on multilingual Natural Language Processing (NLP) problems, such as machine translation.
· Experience/familiarity with general machine learning algorithms
· Experience working at the interface between research and production/cooperating with researchers and product teams.
· Open source contributor to NLP/ML libraries or software.
· M.S. in Computer Science, Computational Linguistics/NLP, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.

Desired profile



BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· At least 2 years of software development experience.
· Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills.
· Deep experience in a wide range of APIs, tools, and open source libraries
· Familiarity with standard natural language processing or machine learning tasks such as transliteration, language modeling and named entity recognition.
· Experience in a wide range of APIs, tools, and open source libraries
· Intermediate Linux/UNIX skills.
