DESCRIPTION

Amazon Web Services and Volkswagen recently entered a close partnership to build the Digital Production Platform (DPP). This platform will enable new ways to optimize Manufacturing and Logistics by onboarding Volkswagens 120+ production plants and their suppliers’ 30000+ to the newly built products in DPP. To do this, the Customer Engineering team will work closely with Volkswagen and internal AWS teams to deliver new, innovative services in the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) space. These services reach all the way from bottom layers; which connect machines such as robots, presses or other equipment to the cloud all the way to the top layers which provide innovative ways to interact with data and optimize decision making using ML solutions.

As a Machine Learning Engineer you will collaborate with scientists on developing and evaluating machine learning models using large datasets such as various types of machine data, orders and parts lists, or data from manufacturing systems to create new offerings that help optimize production and logistics. You will own scaling up successful prototypes and implementing a reliable automated production workflow for the models and services. You will collaborate with software development engineers to integrate the model with various services and maintain a high bar for operations.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Master's Degree in Computer Science (Machine Learning, AI, Statistics, or equivalent)
· Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
· Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
· Ability to take a project from scoping requirements through actual launch of the project
· Experience building workflows involving large dataset and/or machine learning models in production using distributed computing and big data processing concepts and technologies

Desired profile

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field
· 5+ years professional experience in software development
· Computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented design, data structures, algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysis
· Knowledge of, at least, one modern programming language such as Java, Scala or Python
