Alexa Amazon’s ground-breaking cloud service that powers devices such as Echo and FireTV. We are looking for a passionate, talented, and inventive Machine Learning Engineer with a strong machine learning background to join us in beautiful costal city of Gdansk Poland, to help build industry-leading Speech and Language technology. Our mission is to push the envelope in computer generated speech, computer generated characterisation and “Vactor” performance, in order to provide the best-possible experience for our customers.

Position Responsibilities:
· Research and implement novel ML and statistical approaches which add value to Amazon.
· Participate in the design, development, evaluation, deployment and updating of data-driven models and analytical solutions for spoken language applications.
· Develop and/or apply statistical modelling methods (e.g. deep neural networks), optimizations, and other ML techniques to different applications in spoken language engineering

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Graduate degree (MS or PhD) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Sciences or a related discipline with specialisation in speech synthesis, recognition, natural language processing, or machine learning.
· Knowledge of professional software engineering practices and best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
· Experience with common machine learning techniques such as preprocessing data, training and evaluation of classification and regression models, and statistical evaluation of experimental data.
· Proficiency training large scale models in, at least, one modern deep learning engine such as MXNet, Tensorflow, Caffe/Caffe2, Keras, PyTorch/Torch and Theano.
· Experience building workflows involving large dataset and/or machine learning models in production using distributed computing and big data processing concepts and technologies.
· Experience in building speech, natural language processing and/or machine learning systems (e.g. commercial products or government speech projects)
· Ability to take a project from scoping requirements through actual launch of the project

Desired profile

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field
· Computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented design, data structures, algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysis
· Knowledge of, at least, one modern programming language such as C++, Java, Scala or Python.
· Good written and spoken English communication skills.
· 2+ years professional experience in software development.
