DESCRIPTION

We are seeking an experienced Applied Scientist to join the Advertising Forecasting Science team at Palo Alto, California.

In this role, you will....
· Work closely with a group of talented scientists and engineers to solve problems in forecasting, auction theory, and bid optimization, using advanced Machine Learning techniques.
· Lead applied science projects end-to-end, from data analysis, ideation, prototyping, to development, metrics and monitoring.
· Present results to scientists and leadership, and impact Amazon's advertising revenue directly.
· Often need to employ distributed computational frameworks and dive deep into Petabyte level of user and contextual data.
· Produce data artifacts, peer-reviewed code, paper, and business reports.

Your will directly contribute to the advancement of Amazon's Machine Learning models in Advertising, and contribute to its growth.

Our ideal candidate will have strong modelling and analytical skills, high proficiency in mainstream programming languages, intellectual curiosity, ownership, and excel at both written and verbal communications/presentations. S/he will be a self-motivated individual who can find interesting and critical business-related problems, conduct in-depth analyses, propose solutions, and oversee the development and launch of applied science solutions.

The primary responsibilities of this role include:
· Conduct deep analyses on massive Ad user and contextual data sets, independently
· Propose viable modelling ideas to advance optimization or efficiency, with supporting argument and data, or, preferably, preliminary results
· Design, develop, and maintain scalable, Machine Learning models with automated training, validation, monitoring and reporting
· Invent ways to overcome technical limitations and enable new forms of analyses to drive key technical and business decisions
· Stay familiar with the field and apply state-of-the-art Machine Learning techniques to our domain problems, around forecasting, bidding, allocation, and optimization
· Produce peer-reviewed scientific paper in top journals and conferences
· Present results, reports, and data insights to both technical and business leadership

Desired profile



BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, or related quantitative field and 2+ years of experience. OR Masters Degree (in the same areas called out) and 4+ years of experience experience in predictive modeling, simulation, or machine learning.
· 4+ years of experience with a major scripting language (e.g., Python, Ruby)
