Front End Engineer - Amazon Lending

DESCRIPTION

Are you a passionate Front End Engineer who likes to build world class customer experiences using HTML, CSS and JavaScript? Do you like to work on various front end technologies and platforms in a fast paced work environment? Amazon Lending is building a brand new experience for third party sellers to explore financing options, apply for loans and service their accounts. Since inception we have provided over $3 billion in capital to small and medium sized businesses. Our goal is to provide a friction free application experience and a rich set of management features to allow third party sellers to get the most out of their loans.

As a member of the Seller Lending development team, you will invent new front end features using various front end development platform/frameworks used across Amazon. We are a fast-paced development team, using agile methodologies and SOA design patterns. We encourage innovation and expect engineers to take a high level of ownership throughout the software life cycle. We minimize the bureaucracy and focus on giving developers time to develop. Alongside of building new products and services, we are constantly looking to enhance our existing systems by improving performance and refactoring for reuse. There are numerous opportunities to redesign existing architectures and drive scalability.

A successful candidate will have:

- Rich hands-on programming experience in Java or another object oriented language
- Proven track record building large-scale systems and solving complex problems
- Experience mentoring and developing the technical skills of Software Engineers
- Deep understanding of design-patterns and putting them to use in real-world scenarios
- Experience with service oriented technology
- Experience working with and building scalable systems
- Knowledge of AWS or other cloud platform
- Experience developing in a Linux environment
- Clear, professional communication skills able to contribute to team discussions, knowing when to contribute, when to listen, and when to ask questions.

QUALIFICATIONS DE BASE

· BS in Computer Science, Computer or Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
· 3+ years relevant work experience in software development
· Solid knowledge of Computer Science fundamentals (object-oriented design, data structures and algorithm design)
· Proficiency in at least one modern object-oriented programming language such as Java (Preferred) or C#.

QUALIFICATIONS APPRÉCIÉES

· MS in Computer Science, Computer/Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
· Five years of progressively responsible work experience
· Experience in building large scale distributed systems
· Experience in scaling and performance tuning of large systems
· Experience with AWS and other cloud technologies
· Understanding of relational data modeling and SQL
· Excellent communication and analytical skills
· Experience developing software in a Unix/Linux environment
· Familiarity with scripting languages - Unix Shell / Perl / Phython / Ruby
· Maniacal Customer Obsession
