Job description

DESCRIPTION

Amazon's Employee Services Technology (ES Tech) Team is looking for a UX Designer to join a newly formed UX unit. We are looking for someone who is passionate about designing and launching highly functional systems that support our global employee population. You will be someone who relies on user data, research insights and stakeholder input to support your designs, and you will have experience designing for complex projects for large-scale systems, and cultivating deep trust with key stakeholders while advocating for the best user experience possible.

Our team is a global UX team focused on getting our employees and the internal team that support them, the help, information and functionality they need, when and how they need it. Our users are all around the world and span the entire Amazon workforce.

Our growing team does/will include UX Research, Design and Prototyping. We work on projects ranging from rapid iterative UX Design on tactical projects, to major strategic efforts that rethink how we provide support to our employees. We work together with internal stakeholders to create user experiences that help, surprise and delight.

We are looking for a highly-determined, highly-curious, entrepreneurial, and experienced UX Designer to lead new initiatives and help drive design strategy. This person will work collaboratively with a team of product managers, engineers, executives, as well as UX leadership, a team of passionate and creative UX designers, researchers and design technologies to improve how employees interact with their job and Amazon. You’ll drive UX design from early-stage concepts all the way through final delivery and launch. Candidates must be responsive, flexible and able to succeed in a fast-paced environment with a high-degree of independence and ownership to thrive in collaborative work environments while raising the bar for user experience and accessibility.

In return, we can offer you a great team to work with. You will join a growing team of designers, prototypers and researchers who shape and simplify the experiences of our employees, managers and human resources teams through a human-centered design process that balances data, user insights, problem solving, UX and visual design, and accessibility.

You'll have some very interesting challenges and projects. You'll be able to create solutions that scale utilizing multiple tools to communicate your ideas such as journey maps, user flows, storyboards, wireframes, prototypes, mockups, pattern systems and design specifications. You'll also have a voice in defining your development path, and focussing where you think you'll have most impact and motivation. You'll be able to grow in this role. There are senior designers on our team (and many at Amazon) who'll provide you with support and mentorship in UX, and more broadly a lot of business and engineering partners who are happy to share knowledge. You'll also have impact - our leadership are passionate about UX, and they want to review our work, and the experiences we're working on.

Note - this role is posted as available in Seattle, but can be performed remotely anywhere in the US.

Responsibilities
· Create elegant and intuitive user experiences by incorporating user insights, business requirements and technical constraints.
· Lead the planning and strategic phases of a project. Proactively pitch new CX ideas, backed by a strong, well-articulated rationale.
· Quickly and iteratively create user flows, wireframes, prototypes, high fidelity mockups with detailed visual design specifications for mobile, and web interfaces throughout the design process.
· Independently deliver UX solutions for problems of large scope and complexity. Work through ambiguity, and adapt your approach to meet the needs of multiple stakeholders.
· Be a champion for user-centered design by partnering with researchers to test your solutions in front of users; and be willing to build lightweight prototype, conduct scrappy and quick user testing on your own if required.
· Present design work to UX, Product, and Engineering teams, as well as stakeholders and executive leadership.
· Contribute to user experience design guidelines and development best practices and standards at Amazon Design Community.
· Proactively mentor and lead other designers.
· Partner with other teams to influence UX patterns across Amazon systems

· Ability to work gracefully and have a bias for action in a fast-paced, sometimes ambiguous environment.
· Ability to drive the design review cycle and close on design requirements independently.
· Fluency in best design practices across mobile, web platforms and devices, as well as strong knowledge of usability principles and techniques.
· Experience with UX design for complex workflows for niche enterprise user bases (e.g. technical users, business teams, management, employees, etc.).
