DESCRIPTION

As the Electrical Component Engineer, in a hardware operations role, you will be part of the Amazon Go hardware operations team, supporting all phases of the development and manufacturing process.
You are passionate about forging collaboration between our internal engineering, operations, manufacturing, and global commodity management groups, along with external manufacturers and the supply chain to ensure that the component choices fit the goals and objectives of the design.
The electrical component engineer will be the main owner of the ECAD component library and assist in maintaining our Approved Vendor List (AVL) by creating engineering change orders, assigning part numbers, and maintaining part descriptions.

You are detail oriented and continuously push for high standards from yourself and the rest of the team.

In this role, you must:
· Review team member requests for components, cross-check against available vendor specifications and documents to ensure that the parts can satisfy design requirements
· Generate specifications for new custom parts
· Read and understand electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and component data sheets
· Work with cross-functional teams to source and suggest alternate parts

· Participate in product design reviews

Roles and Responsibilities include:
· Ensure availability of suitable components required to manufacture a large volume product.
· Select, qualify, approve, document and manage purchased components and direct material required to meet an end-product.
· Analyze and qualify interchangeable parts from vendors outside of the organization's typical supply chain.
· Manage product lifecycle management of components which are going to be obsolete and analyze form, fit and functional changes in alternate replacement.
· Engage with partners in development team and lead design for manufacturing of electrical components.
· Proactively qualify shorter lead time components

Desired profile

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· 3+ years' experience in a similar role
· Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Computer, Mechanical, or related field
· Experience with characterizing and selecting electrical components
· Experience using digital oscilloscopes, multi-meters, and other related component test equipment
· Experience with ROHS/WEEE requirements and current exemptions
